Naturalist
I was born in 1963, I have recently turned 40, I am a naturalist. That is, I survive on my passion for the study of wildlife and its relationships with the environment changes caused by man’s intervention. Professionally, I am in charge of animal management and environmental plans in mountainous areas, and I collaborate with National Natural Parks and Forest Companies. In the past years I have completed several studies on alpine carnivorous mammal species, in particular of the lynx. Thanks to my passion for the great carnivores (lynx, wolf and tawny bear) – animals which are finally again to be found in the Alps - I carried out surveys during long travels on foot in the past years among the Dinaric montain system (mountain range in the north of Croatia and South of Slovenia), the Oriental and Central Alps (see following paragraph). Such activities have been supported by the Italian Mountain Wilderness Association and helped by Lizard. I am studying a visit trail and working on the preparation of a small visitors center in the WWF Oasis of Valtrigona, Italy, the only Oasis in the Alps, a place of great fascination and biological value. Currently, after a very busy and intense period and with some physical problems, I am about to begin professional collaborations which will bring me to work with more or less famous sectors of the Alps, in the province of Brescia, Bergamo and Sondrio, places where an encounter with the lynx, the wolf or the bear are possible. The larger part of the excursions or alpine ascensions I carry out in my free time is dedicated to the exploration of unusual places or minor mountains abandoned by the crowds.

Scientific exploration within the Mountain Wilderness Italy Bear Project, from Croatia to Lombardy: we monitor the suitability of the environment in central-oriental areas of Italy for the return of the great carnivores. We locate movement corridors, the ecological barriers and the crossing of parks on national territory: National Park Risnjack (Croatia), National Park of the Triglav (Slovenia), natural Park of the Giulie PreAlps, Natural Park of the Dolomiti Friulane, National Park of the Dolomiti Bellunesi, Natural Park Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino, Natural Park of the Mount Corno, Natural Park Adamello-Brenta, Park of the Adamello.

Organization and development of a communication project on bears and on the relationship issues between man and large carnivores, with the main aim of informing dwellers of inner areas and of isolated mountain communities within the Alto Garda Bresciano Park. 10 days were walked through the Park connecting the several rural nuclei, with data collection and information on previously unknown data, beyond to the informative action, October 2002.
